If you can't install the Contacts.msi package included our WLM 2009 distrbutions, make sure you do not have any Windows Live Essentials (Movie Maker, Live Mail etc) programs installed on your machine.

If any are installed, you must uninstall ALL of them before installing Messenger. Do this via Control Panel/Settings, NOT by deleting their Program Files outright.

This variant of the package is required to be installed, as it's a dependency of WLM 2009/all other Windows Live programs.


If you're running Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2 and can't connect with Windows Live Messenger 14.0/2009 (error code 84cc0020), run this tool.

Do not run this tool if you run an earlier version of Windows.
